TRAINING NEWS
ILEETA Conference Review
ILEETA's 5th Annual Training Conference took place April 1st - 5th, 2008 and was held once again at the beautiful Westin Hotel in Wheeling, Illinois. This year's conference was action packed from start to finish with over 800 instructors attending from local, state and federal agencies from across the country as well as international members attending from over a dozen foreign nations! This year's conference offered over 114 training tracks which included 25 different classes offering instructor certifications and armorer certifications. General class topics ranged from control tactics and use of deadly force to management development and administrative operations. Executive Director Ed Nowicki included three special competitive events this year, offering attendees to participate in The International Iron Cop Competition, The ILEETA Cup and The International Police Driving Competition. Non-competitive events included The Flatfoot Five Fun Run and the World Cop Donut Eating Championship. All entry fees and proceeds generated by these events was donated to support the ILEETA Scholarship Fund and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. With over 800+ members attending this year's conference, ILEETA has become the largest instructor training conference in the country! This conference continues to grow and gets bigger and better each year. ILEETA's 6th Annual Training Conference will be returning to Wheeling, Illinois again in April of 2009. Start making plans now to attend because next year's conference is gonna ROCK!!! We'll see you there!
NORTH SUBURBAN POLICE PISTOL LEAGUE - NSPPL
The North Suburban Police Pistol League (NSPPL) offers a variety of shooting venues to compete in, offering matches in Combat (both open and duty classes), bullseye, off-duty handgun, snub nose revolver, long range rifle and 3-gun. The NSPPL also conducts an Annual Awards Banquet at the end of each shooting season, recognizing the top shooters of the league in 6 ranking catagories for each venue. The NSPPL offers one of the most impressive prize tables in the shooting industry, with over 50 firearms given away at last years banquet! INSTRUCTOR STAFF DEVELOPMENTS
To work on staff as an instructor with Team Spartan, we require that all of our instructors maintain the ability to perform on demand, all drills and courses of fire that we ask our students to perform. To maintain this level of performance, our instructors continuously attend training programs and instructor training conferences with other agencies and organizations to stay razor sharp! Team Spartan staff instructors Aaron Cunningham and Sung Joo Lee presented the Edged Weapons Defense - instructor development course at the ILEETA conference last month in Wheeling, Illinois for the 2nd year in a row. Thanks for putting in the hard work and long hours to make that class happen again this year.
Team Spartan staff instructor John Krupa presented as a guest instructor at the ILEETA conference this year with Massad Ayoob on the Deadly Force Experts Panel.
Congratulations to Team Spartan staff instructor John Krupa as the overall shooter and winner of the ILEETA Cup Trophy at the ILEETA conference last month. John also won the top prize, a Sigarms P250 9mm pistol, donated by Sig Sauer. Great job!
