TRAINING NEWS
October was another busy month for Team Spartan as we presented several classes, which included one of our most popular instructor courses, the AR-15 / M-4 Rifle Instructor certification course. Hosted by the Harvey Police Department at the Harvey Police Range, this ILETSB equivalency certification course was attended by law enforcement officers from several agencies in Illinois.

Recognized as one of the most challenging rifle instructor certification courses in the country, instructor students are challenged to meet stringent standards and are required to pass a combat qualification course, marksmanship qualification course, instructor standard drills test, written test and oral and live-fire instructor presentations.

The course covered a wide array of topics which included methods of instruction and lesson plan development, nomenclature of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle, disassembly / reassembly, function checking, mechanical operation, sight adjustment, zeroing and care & cleaning.

Instructors were also introduced to methodology covering operation and deployment of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle, which included fundamentals of shooting a rifle, ready positions, shooting positions, malfunction clearance drills, transition drills, cover drills, low-light shooting drills, shooting on the move, static turns and pivots, ballistics and much more!

TOYS FOR TOTS - 2007 COMBAT CHALLENGE EVENT RESULTS
Well, we did it again! For the 3rd year in a row, we have hosted and presented the largest charity combat shooting event in the country! This year's event was supported by over 80 sponsors that donated over 300 prizes valued at over $ 16,000 and included 15 firearms!


The event was a huge success with 169 participants from 15 states competing in this year's event. The weather was perfect as shooters participated in the Combat Challenge Match as well as several side matches, which included the Beretta Challenge, Team Spartan Shotgun Run, Smith & Wesson Revenge of the Pepper Poppers and Action Target Man vs. Man Steel Challenge.


Over 470 toys were donated and collected at this year's event in support of the toy drive for the Marine Corps Reserves and the Toys for Tots Foundation. A BIG thank you goes out to everyone that supported this year's event and we look forward to seeing you support the Toys for Tots Foundation again next year. Action Target (LETC) - Advanced Law Enforcement Training Camp
Action Target has announced that they have scheduled 2 Law Enforcement Training Camps (LETC) for 2007. The LETC's will be held on the following dates: - LETC West - August 27th - 31st, 2007 in Provo, Utah - LETC South - November 4th - 9th, 2007 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana These exciting firearms instructor development camps are packed with over a dozen world class presentations from some of the top law enforcement trainers in the country! INSTRUCTOR STAFF DEVELOPMENTS
To work on staff as an instructor with Team Spartan, we require that all of our instructors maintain the ability to perform on demand, all drills and courses of fire that we ask our students to perform. To maintain this level of performance, our instructors continuously attend training programs and instructor training conferences with other agencies and organizations to stay razor sharp!
