Pre-requisite: Our Sub-machinegun Operator Certification Course or firearms training course of equivalent level.

Post-Incident Legal Defense Support: This training curriculum meets ILETSB training standards. Curriculum materials; lesson plan, course itinerary, syllabus with SPO’s, student performance records, instructor certification credentials and list of supporting reference materials are available for post-incident legal defense depositions and legal defense litigation discovery.

Course Description: This challenging 5-day instructor certification course focuses on development of instructor skills in the use and application of the MP-5 and UMP sub-machinegun.

Students will learn about methods of instruction, lesson plan development, fundamental diagnostics, establishing standard drills, qualification course development, running live-fire courses of fire and how to apply these techniques in classroom and live-fire presentations.

Students will be required to develop lesson plans for evaluated classroom presentations and live-fire range presentations using these techniques for instructor certification.

Upon completion of this course the student will possess the skills and knowledge necessary to instruct, evaluate, test and certify qualified operators in the safe use and deployment of the MP-5 and UMP sub-machinegun.

Students that successfully pass the instructor standard drills, qualification course, presentation evaluations and written test are eligible to receive instructor certification.

This is a physically demanding, technical firearms training course! Students should be in good physical condition, familiar with their equipment and have solid basic to intermediate rifle gun-handling skills established prior to attending this firearms training course.

The following firearms training topics will be covered:

• Firearms safety and safe gun-handling procedures.

• Establishing emergency medical action plans.

• Methods of instruction and lesson plan development.

• Nomenclature of the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun.

• Disassembly and re-assembly of the MP-5 / UMP subgun.

• Preventive maintenance and cleaning of the MP-5 / UMP subgun.

• Function checking the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun.

• Mechanical operation of the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun.

• Use of tactical sling systems.

• Sight adjustment and zeroing.

• Fundamentals of shooting the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun.

• Loading, unloading and reloading the MP-5 / UMP subgun.

• Operating the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun during semi-automatic fire.

• Operating the MP-5 / UMP sub-machinegun during controlled automatic fire.

• Enhanced tactical speed shooting concepts.

• Malfunction clearance techniques.

• Transition to secondary weapon system.

• Cover drills.

• Movement off the line of force.

• Threat assessment and area scanning.

• Multiple target drills and engaging multiple threats.

• Drugged assailant and body armor defeating drills.

• Shooting positions - standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and prone.

• Use of cover while moving and shooting.

• Deployment during low-light conditions.

• Shooting on the move.

• Static turns and pivots.

• Close Quarter Battle (CQB) techniques.

• Combined skills individual shoot-offs.

• Man vs. man stress course.

• Instructor standards drill test and evaluation.

• Timed Subgun Instructor Qualification Course with certified marksmanship rating.

• Written examination.

• Instructor oral presentation evaluation.

• Instructor live-fire range presentation evaluation.

Course student limit: 16

Student requirements: Note pad and pen, eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, duty belt with holster and magazine carriers, duty pistol with at least 3 magazines, MP-5 or UMP sub-machinegun with iron sights and at least 2 magazines, sling, flashlight, knee pads, elbow pads and gun cleaning kit.

Recommended equipment: Rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system, water, weapon-mounted flashlight and clothing suitable for contact with the ground.

The tactical sling must allow the subgun to hang freely in front of the shooter.

All subguns used in this course require iron sights. Red dot sights and holographic sights will be allowed after completion of hours 1 thru 16.

Ammunition requirements: 1500 rounds of sub-machinegun ammunition and 150 rounds of handgun ammunition. (minimum)
